Movie Verdict

Crime thrillers and investigative thrillers are the most exciting USPs now, and makers and OTT platforms have been trying to engage with some unique investigative films and series. Puli Meka starts off interestingly with the gruesome murder of a police officer, and without wasting much time, it then dives into the investigation of the case. The first episode takes time to set up the plot properly, but once a forensic expert becomes involved in the case, the series gets interesting. The series struggles to make you thrill with its narration in a few episodes in the beginning, but once another police officer gets killed by a serial killer, it raises your curiosity to watch the later episodes.

The suspense is built quite well, but when the series is in the middle, it becomes quite predictable, and if you have experience watching this kind of film and series, then you can easily guess the killer. A serial killer targets a police officer and is left with no clues. The police officer Kiran and the forensic experts dig deep into the case; all these things make you invested in the series, but the series lacks the suspense that is required in an investigative thriller. The series has loose ends in every episode and lacks emotions as well. Though the killer’s motive is not convincing but keeping aside the few loopholes of the investigation process it engaged you with some twists and turns.

Adi Saikumar made his OTT debut with this series and as a forensic expert does a passable job, and Lavanya Tripathi as an investigative police officer does a fair job but it should have done much better, Siri Hanumanth has some screen time but she struggles to perform and Suman and others cast did their best.

The story by Kona Venkat and Venkatesh Kilaru is pretty half-backed and the director Chakravarthy Reddy tried his best to present the film in an engaging way but he partly succeed in it. Technically Puli Meka is okay and Ram K Mahesh’s cinematography is partly good, Praveen Lakkaraju saves the film with his background score and the rest of the crew did their best.

Overall, Puli Meka is the best engaging investigative thriller in recent times that can be watched by every section of the audience.

Plus Points:

  • Few episodes
  • Few twists
  • Background score

Minus Points:

  • Predictable Narration
  • Lack the emotion

Rating: 2.75/5
