Movie Verdict
Though it takes time to get into the main story, the premise and mood grab your attention in the very beginning and make you invested in the story. At a point the snail-paced narration makes you feel bored but once an evil force enters into the situation and how all the family members try to save her who was struck in different parts of the city due to lockdown makes the narration quiet interesting in the first half, the first half went with the right amount of emotion rather than a horrifying scenes which makes the film looks unique horror flick.
Though there is no intermission we can experience the interval bang with a brilliant twist and after that, the film gets even more, interesting when things start getting unfold and it makes you glued to the seat. Though there are flaws in the story although the core emotion lands well and some unpredictable twists keeps you on the edge of your seat, the climax could have been better, however, the biggest drawback of the film is dead slow narration, and if you hold your patience for a 90 min you will get a unique experience.
Talking about the performances the lady superstar Nayanthara as a single mother does a brilliant job, her character was well written and it has many dynamics and she effortlessly pulled it off, though Satyaraj jas less screen time although he showed his excellence in his performance, and Anupam Kher as spiritual pastor did his best and we can see his experience while performing and rest of the cast did their best.
Technically Connect is top notch Manikantan Krishnamachary pulls you into the world of Connect and makes you part of it with his stunning visuals and color pallet making the film look like and Hollywood film, Prithvi Chandrasekhar did a decent job by providing the background score and rest of the technical team did their best.
Ashwin Saravanan is always impressed with his stories though the stories have horror elements and he made them unique stories with his brilliant writing, Connect is also a brilliant story, and this time he showed human emotions during lockdown rather than horrific elements but he made sure to show his mark twists in the tale, Connects lacks the spine chilling moments when compare to Mayuri and Game Over films although he succeeded in engaging the audience with emotion.
Overall, Connect is a must-watch film for a unique experience and it can be watchable by all sections of the audience.
