Shekar Chandra grew up in Tamil Nadu, a state in the south of India. His father, cinematographer Hari Anumolu, worked on a number of well-known Telugu movies, such as Ladies Tailor, Shri Kanakamalaxmi Recording Dance Troupe, Nuvve Kavali, Gamyam, and others. When people saw how well he did in Amaravathi, Shekar Chandra got his big break in the Telugu movie business. As time went on, he was in movies like Abbai Class Ammai Mass, Boochamma Boochodu, Nanna Nenu Naa Boyfriends, and Howrah Bridge.

Since then, his music has been in more than 25 movies, such as the action film Avunu (2012), the comedy Brother of Bommali (2012), and the crime film Amaravati (2012).
