Movie Verdict
Suma Kanakaala is known for her hyperactive anchoring but Jayamma’s character is completely opposite, firstly we should appreciate the director Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu for choosing her for this calm and composed character.
The movie is set in a village, the movie starts well and the director took his time to establish all the characters. the audience will engage throughout the movie because the characters and the story everything is relatable, a lot of people feel like it’s happening in our village. The comedy scenes and rural emotions worked out well.
Jayamma Panchayathi doesn’t have an exciting conflict, it seems very simple yet it is attached to her husband’s illness, However, the conflict could have been better. The first half is good with some beautiful comedy scenes and Village Council scenes, emotions take over the second half and it feels overstretched.
Coming to the performances the show stealer is Jayamma. Suma Kanakala as Jayamma just nailed it, being super active by nature she effortlessly pulled it off Jayamma’s character. Devi Prasad portrayed the role of Jayamma’s husband and he justified his role, and the rest of the cast did an excellent job.
Coming to technicalities, debut director Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu’s writing seems very mature as he dealt with the film quite decently and he manages to engage the audience. More than a direction, he has written a good story, as Jayamma Panchayithi is not only about Jayamma’s life, under currently the film deals with cast issues and honor issues of so-called elders. However, the layers didn’t blend well.
Anush Kumar’s cinematography is quite good, as the film was made with a minimal budget but his visuals made the film look rich and quality. one of the major highlights of the film is the legendary music director M.M Keeravaani, he can do any genre and he can leave his mark with his music and for Jayamma Panchayathi, he gave wonderful background score. and the rest of the departments did well asper the film requirement.
Finally, Jayamma Panchaythi is a one-time watch film, go with Zero expectations you will love it.
