Movie Verdict
Happy Birthday is a theatrical film to watch as you definitely don’t enjoy on OTT, one of the major assets of the film is the world-building we can say technically one of the best films in Telugu when a director wants to tell a story in a fictional world then directors biggest plus point is no need to think about logics the same thing happens with Happy Birthday there are drawbacks but its good to keep aside otherwise it may spoil the fun.
The movie starts off well with a bill pass as the director didn’t waste the time getting into the world and he established every character in a span of 15 min later he takes you into a completely new world and the comedy works well in the film and that keeps you hooked throughout the movie, However, the film lacks the core emotion though the audience didn’t think about that while the fun is happening if the emotion could be placed well then the film would be in a different level, despite the fact the climax is insane and I’m sure you will be blown away with the climax.
Lavanya Tripathi as Happy is brilliant and she appeared super energetic and her expression is so good on screen, Sathya as Max Pain is just fantastic as no one can portray his role, and Vennela Kishore as Ritwik Sodhi is, as usual, superb and the rest of the cast did well.
Kudos to Ritesh Raana for bringing unique subjects and he succeeded in engaging the audience, he has a strong command of writing comedy right from the first film we have seen situational comedy and that is a rare quality to have and in this film, he brilliantly blended all kind of comedy genres like surreal comedy, dialogue comedy and situational comedy, he has done every aspect so well and especially the serial sequence which we saw in Mathu Vadalara that worked so well in this film also.
Technically Happy Birthday is top-notch, Suresh Sarangam’s visuals and color pallets are new to the Telugu audience and Kaala Bhairava, as usual, scored a brilliant background score, and the rest of the technical departments did their best.
Finally, Happy Birthday is must watch the film to watch in theaters and if you are a fan of unique films then you must give it a try.
