The much anticipated Kalki 2898 AD has finally been released. However, the premier show’s talk was brilliant. Well, let’s get into the review and find out whether the film is worth seeing.
The plot revolves around Sum 80, (Deepika Padukone), a test subject in Complex rules by Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan). One day she escapes from a complex and announces a 50000 million unit reward. A bounty hunter Bhairava (Prabhas) decides to capture her but Ashwathhama (Amithab Bachchan) protects her from him. What happened next is the rest of the story.
The idea of blending mythology and sci-fi is a great idea and the way Nag Ashwin presented it is mind-blowing. The film starts well but after a while, it falls flat with snail-paced screenplay. However, the story picks up the pace from the interval bang, and from then to the climax it will be a visual feast.
Prabhas as Bhairava is good and after a long gap, we get to see his funny angle. Deepika Padukone did her best within the screen time. Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwathham is the biggest asset of the film. One of the best supporting characters ever written and he did well. Kamal Haasan did a brilliant job as Supreme Yaskin despite having less screen time. The rest of the cast did their best.
Technically, Kalki 2898 AD is top-notch, this film is going to be the next big thing in indian cinema. Santhosh Narayanan’s background score is good but it could have been better. Kudos to the production team for achieving this kind of visuals.
Director Nag Ashwin did a phenomenal job of presenting this kind of story. Despite having a few flaws, he succeeds in engaging the audiance.
Overall, Kalki 2898 AD is a must-watch film. Watch it in a good soundproof theatre.
