Movie Verdict
Amigos has an interesting plot called doppelganger which is not much aware by the Telugu audience but if we dig deep into the word it’s called lookalikes and has no connection. We have seen many triple role films like Mugguru Monagallu and a recent outing was Jai Lava Kusa starring NTR but in all these films the trio has a blood relation and what made Amigos unique is the trio has no connection.
The film starts off intrestingly by introducing all three characters and their world, first 20 minutes make us invested in the story with its unique plot line but it slowly moves into the template-based commercial films which make us feel bored. The first half went like regular commercial films and has no thrills but the interval twist makes us curious to watch the latter half.
The second half has to follow the same as confusion comedy which gets boring and routine, the emotional angle didn’t land well in the screenplay. The film completely failed to engage you though the second half has action blocks, Kalyan Ram’s performance. Routine narration, predictable scenes, and boring love track tests our patience.
Kalyan Ram as Manjunath a cool and simple guy does a good job, as Sidhharth is just cake for him and as a ruthless monster Michael is the saving grace for the film, kudos to Kalyan Ram for portraying the three roles effortlessly, Rashika Ranganath does a fair job and she looks quite in every frame, Brahmaji did his best and rest of the cast did their best.
Rajendra Reddy’s idea seems good but he completely failed in presenting the film in an engaging way. The idea looks good but the narrative is outdated. Technically, Amigos is partly good, S. Soundar Rajan’s cinematography is partly good, Ghibran songs are not up to the mark and he failed in remixing the iconic song of Balakrishna called ‘Enno Rathrulosthaigani’, his background score is good and rest of the technical team did their best.
Overall, Amigos is a routine commercial action drama yet the plot is captivating.
Plus Points:
- Kalyan Ram Performance
Minus Points:
- Routine Narraation
- Predictable Screenplay
