- During the 2009 Assembly Elections, Mekathoti Sucharita was elected to the state Assembly for the first time from Prathipadu (SC) segment on Congress party ticket
- In 2011, after the formation of the YSRCP, she resigned from Congress and contested in the by-elections in May 2012, winning by a majority of 17,500 votes
- During 2014 elections, Sucharita lost to Ravela Kishore Babu (TDP)
- In 2019 elections, she contested on YSRCP ticket and was elected to Assembly. YSRCP’s Sucharita Mekathoti defeated TDP’s powerful candidate, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad by a margin of under 7,000 votes
